The new Autumn/Winter 11 collection by Aftershock is all about ladylike elegance and easy-style glamour with a range of stunning dresses to get you in the mood to party. Aftershock were kind enough to discuss their new Autumn collection.
Where did the inspiration come from for the new AW11 collection?
The AW11 collection is glamorous and inspiration came from a trip to Venice and a grand Venetian Ball and La Biennale di Venezia which showcases international film. It then led us into a journey to watching classic Sophia Lauren films and bringing the elegance of that era and adapting it to modern day life.
Does the new collection follow any trends?
Yes, we trend forecast all our collection at least 7-8 months in advance. Bloggers are extremely important to this process and the design team work with some key bloggers on forecasting. Trends that have picked up for AW11 season include a slightly retro 70s theme that carries on to more tailored work wear for SS12, a resurgence in animal prints in “Leopard and Lace” and gorgeous satin cuts in “Winter Scarlet.”
Is there one stand-out dress in the new range?
There are a number of statement pieces from the Aftershock Gold Collection that encompasses the evening or occasion offering but I also really like some of the more ready to wear or casual styles such as the leopard print cardi’s paired with leggings and chunky accessories because you could take the look from work to evening effortlessly. I think this is the great the thing about the AW11 collection.
Does the new collection have any surprises?
I think the new collection is one of the strongest collections to date and has the ability to “shock” or create that “wow” factor. I think a lot more people are looking for something special and different from the high street. I’m sure they’ll be able to find this at Aftershock London stores or concessions in House of Fraser and in the new AW11 collection.
